Patient group honours UCB CEO

The honour comes as recognition of Dr Doliveux’s “dedication to the
research and development of new treatments, patient advocacy, and
education”, the LFA said.
In particular, the patient group highlighted his community awareness initiatives on behalf of individuals who are medically underserved – especially those living with lupus.
The award will be presented at the LFA’s National Butterfly Gala in Washington D.C. on the 10th of May to mark World Lupus Day.
“I dedicate this award to all my UCB colleagues who remain focused on our patients whatever the work they do and who aspire to improving the lives of people living with severe diseases such as lupus,” said Roch Doliveux.
US Senator Thad Cochran and Dr Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health in the US will also be honoured for their leadership and dedication to improving the quality of life of Lupus patients. The LFA estimates that 1.5 million Americans and five million people worldwide are living with lupus.
“The LFA’s Butterfly Gala on World Lupus Day is the perfect time to celebrate the great progress we have seen in recent years in increasing funding for lupus research, advancing the science and medicine of lupus, and the development of new treatments,” said Sandra C. Raymond, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Lupus Foundation of America.
“We want to thank and recognise each of our honorees for their significant contributions they are making towards helping us achieve a new era of improved and diagnosis and treatment of lupus,” she added.
